UCOGLOBAL INTERNSHIPS



Introduction

The University of Cordoba, in cooperation with some business and international organizations, is offering scholarships to students to apply for the following internship positions.

Position Description

1) Marketing Department Executive: The marketing department has an exciting opportunity for a bright and enthusiastic Marketing Executive who wants to gain experience in marketing and sales. There will be regular meetings with teachers so that interns develop their communication skills and learn what works in clinching a sale.

Responsibilities:

Costumers management delivering outstanding costumers service.

Contact potential customers by phone and email and drive through sales with a focus on speaking to the decision-maker.

Work for four hour shifts at the same time in the 24-hour schedule, determined by which part of the global market they are targeting.

Work five days a week.

Requirements:

1.Applicants must be enrolled in an Official first degree programme (or its equivalent) at the University of Cordoba. Students enrolled in official UCO master’s programmes may also apply. However, the programme gives preference to those students enrolled in the following degree programmes: LADE/ GADE+Derecho, Grado/Licenciatura en Traducción e Interpretación, Filología Inglesa/Estudios ingleses, Master en comercio exterior, Master en inglés para la Cualificación Profesional, Master en Traducción especializada.

2.Official certificate of English language level (B2 or higher), according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

3.Organizational skills.

4.IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office.

5.Interpersonal and communication skills.

Place: London

Lengh of internship: July, August and September

Stipend: 440 euros/ month

2) Group assistant: Group Assistant interns work with study holiday groups. This is an opportunity for anyone who wants to improve English language skills and/or for those who want tourist industry-related experience. Holiday study group visits last from one to three weeks. Each has a tailor-made programme that can include trips to the sights and cultural institutions of London and places of interest within a day’s reach of London; social and leisure activities including sports, shopping and club nights; visits to schools in London, both state and private; English language and theatre classes; accommodation in hotels or with host families.

Responsibilities

Ensure a group’s stay goes as smoothly as possible liaise with the Group Coordinator and teachers from the visiting school and also with tour guides and activity leaders accompany the group as they move around London, making sure they get to different destinations on time.

Work a flexible week including mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the group.

There may be opportunities for Group Assistant interns to transfer in the Marketing Department if their skills are more suited to that role.

Requirements:

Lengh of internship: June 15th –August 15th

Stipend: 440 euros/ month

3) Group Coordinator: The intern will have the chance to work independently and gain experience in coordinating different groups of students. The Group Coordinator will have to work as part of the team and co-operate with the Programme Coordinator and with the Finance Department.

Responsibilities:

Familiarise her/himself with all information regarding the programme of the incoming groups;

Welcome the group, provide a presentation of the programme;

Verify and reconfirm all the details of the itinerary with suppliers (meals, excursions, tickets, etc.);

Be the main point of contact between the business and the Group Leader (group’s teacher);

Hold frequent meetings with the GAs and contact the Group Leader on a regular basis.

Requirements:

1.Applicants must be enrolled in an Official first degree programme (or its equivalent) at the University of Cordoba. Students enrolled in official UCO master’s programmes may also apply. However, the programme gives preference to those students enrolled in the following degree programmes: Grado/Licenciatura en Turismo, Grado/Licenciatura en Traducción e Interpretación, Filología Inglesa/Estudios ingleses, Master en Inglés para la Cualificación Profesional, Master en Traducción especializada.

5.Works 5 shifts a week, be flexible and available.

Stipend: 440 euros/ month

Number of scholarships:1

Interns will receive two or three hours English tuition each working day, with a focus on business and marketing English for Call Centre interns and general English for Group Assistant interns.

Selection criteria

The selection criteria and process are as follows:

Applicants selection will be coordinated by the Business/organisation. Applicants will be selected on the basis of their academic transcripts, the level of English and the adequacy of their studies to the position profile.

For students currently enrolled in a master’s programme, marks obtained during undergraduate study will be taken into account. Marks (on base of 10) posted on SIGMA as of 20 April 2012 will be used to calculate the weighted averages. The ORI personnel will have direct access to the academic transcripts of the applicants for issuing a short version of the document, which will be included with the application. In the event of technical difficulties, academic transcripts will be obtained on the following or successive days. In any case, the ultimate selection of the candidate will be done by the organisation.

Applications with the required documents must be addressed to the Director de la Oficina de Relaciones Internacionales. All applications must be submitted to the Registro General (Avda. Medina Azahara, 5. 14071. Córdoba) or the Registro Auxiliar (Ed. Paraninfo, Campus de Rabanales. 14071. Córdoba) of the University of Cordoba between March 30th- April 17th. Application forms and accompanying documentation may be sent by certified mail to the Registro General at the above address.
